What is ImportFix?
A pre-import file repair and validation tool for cleaning CSV and Excel data before upload.
Is this a spreadsheet editor?
No. It is focused on diagnosing and repairing import-related CSV problems.
Do I need an account?
No. You can scan, repair, preview, and export smaller files without creating an account.
What file types does ImportFix support?
ImportFix supports CSV files and standard Excel workbook uploads (.xlsx and .xls). Excel files are converted from the first worksheet into the same repair flow before preview and export.
What are the free limits?
Free export is intended for files up to 1,000 rows or 500 KB. Larger files and some advanced repair options trigger premium export.
Does my file stay private?
For typical CSV and Excel files, processing is designed to happen in the browser where possible. That means you can inspect and repair local uploads without needing an account.
Can it fix every broken CSV?
No. It should handle common structural problems well, and clearly show what it found when a file needs manual review.
Can I preview the repaired file before exporting?
Yes. ImportFix is built around scanning the file, applying selected repairs, and showing the repaired preview before download.
Does ImportFix support Excel files?
Yes. ImportFix can read standard Excel workbooks for input and convert the first worksheet into the repair workflow. You can export cleaned CSV, and premium users can export repaired data as an Excel .xlsx workbook.
What does suspicious-value flagging check?
It looks for values that do not match the likely column type, such as invalid emails, impossible dates, non-numeric values in numeric columns, mixed boolean formats, and unusual category values.
Does ImportFix automatically change suspicious values?
No. Suspicious values are flagged for review instead of guessed. Some cleanup rules can normalize dates, booleans, numbers, or missing values when you choose them, but risky values stay visible.
What is advanced cleanup?
Advanced cleanup includes premium repair and validation options such as duplicate-row removal, suspicious-value flagging, date normalization, boolean normalization, number normalization, and missing-value normalization.
Can I see what changed before downloading?
Yes. The repaired preview highlights changed cells, flagged values, and changed rows. You can also review flagged values in a wider validation table before exporting.
Can I export as Excel?
Yes. Free users can export cleaned CSV files. Premium users can also export the repaired data as an Excel .xlsx workbook.
